After cooking with these ingredients for so many years this is a major breakthrough for Australia to now have some of these ingredients showcased in the upcoming Sydney Fine Food Show. Native American Indian Food comes to Australia
The American Indian Foods (AIF) program administered by the Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) will introduce Native American food products to the Australian food trade during the Fine Food Australia tradeshow from Sept. 7-10th.
Nathan Notah & Tina Voigt who administer the program, have a primary goal to improve the economic situation for the thousands of American Indian farmers and ranchers.
“We aim to pursue and promote the conservation, development and use of our American Indian agricultural resources for the betterment of our people,” states Notah. He continues to say, “We appreciate this exciting opportunity for us to introduce American Indian Foods that have been grown for centuries to the food trade in Australia.
Located in the USA pavilion at Fine Food, American Indian Foods will have export ready products on display. In addition to learning about the American Indian Foods Export Program buyers will be introduced to companies promoting their line of Native American food products
Participants with their Tribal affiliation, location and products are:
Bedre Fine Chocolates (Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma) – gourmet chocolates.
Lummi (Raven) Native Seafoods (Lummi Nation, Washington) – packaged salmon.
Mighty Good Bison (Apache Nation, Oklahoma) – natural bison meat and jerky.
Native American Natural Foods (Sioux Nation, South Dakota) – Tanka Bar and Tanka Bites energy snacks made from 100% natural buffalo and dried cranberries.
Native Natural Southwest Native Foods (Isleta Pueblo, New Mexico) – Anazasi beans, red chili powder and parched blue corn.
Native Pride Products (Tlingit & Aleut, Alaska) – fresh and smoked seafood.
Red Lake Nation Foods (Chippewa Nation, Minnesota) – 100% all natural, premium long grain wild rice and fish products.
Sister Sky Natural Products (Spokane Nation, Washington) – natural bath and body care products.
All the food is grown on lands of Native American Nations or from their natural waters with many of the products still harvested in ways defined hundreds of years ago by the American Indian tribes.
The USA is one of 31 countries with either group or individual company stands looking to take advantage of the increased interest by Australian buyers in imported foods” said Fine Food Exhibition Manager, Minnie Constan,
“Fine Food is Australia’s largest exhibition for the food and hospitality industry with over 1,000 exhibitors showing products, equipment and solutions to 25,000 buyers looking for ways to become more profitable, it really is an event not to be missed.” said Ms Constan.
