01 Feb Food bloggers we love: Lorraine Elliott aka NotQuiteNigella
Welcome to our new section: Food bloggers we love.
First cab off the rank is the undeniably gorgeous Lorraine Elliott from NotQuiteNigella. We adore her and we’re sure you will too!
When did you start NotQuiteNigella?: In September 2007.
Why did you start it? Because I am a little bit obsessed with food.
What was the last thing you ate?: A delicious mille feuille pastry. But it was dessert time, I promise!
What is your favourite food and why?: Pastries because I love butter. They are a vessel for buttery goodness.
What is your favourite Chef and/or restaurant and why? I love Heston Blumenthal’s creativity although I haven’t been to The Fat Duck (yet!).
What is your favourite ingredient and why?: Butter because it improves everything and can be used in savoury and sweet dishes.
What is your favourite foodie country and why?: I plead the Fifth Amendment – that is just too hard to answer I’m afraid! Every country has amazing food experiences.
Who are your favourite bloggers?: I read about 50 blogs a day so it’s hard to narrow it down but I do love these gals:
- Barbara from Barbara Bakes
- Briony from A Girl A Style
- Carolyn from Food Gal
- Celia from Fig, Jam and Lime Cordial
- Christie from Fig & Cherry
- Deana from Lost Past remembered
- Emma from She Goes
- Faith from An Edible Mosaic
- Heavenly Housewife
- Jamie from Lifes a Feast
- Karen from Time2Dance
- Liss from Frills in the Hills
Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?: Ooh fun question! Heston Blumenthal, Anthony Bourdain, Oprah and Gail and Amy and David Sedaris. I have no idea if they would get along though.
What would you cook?: I’d ask Heston to cook 😉 Failing that I’d make a Zuni roast chicken, Joel Robuchon’s pommes puree or if they like spicy food, my mum’s Singapore Chilli prawns. There would be Portuguese custard tarts and home made ice cream for dessert.
What is the one foodie experience everyone should have before they die?: Eat pastries in Paris.
Please finish this sentence: ‘When I am in the kitchen, I…’ am happiest.
